The launch event aims to address the need
for an engaging and easy introduction to different languages as
well as promoting early language learning. To achieve this aim,
the event will create a multicultural and multilingual atmosphere
to share the outcomes of the “Languages from the Cradle” Socrates
project, and other Socrates projects addressing similar needs.
By means of lullabies which are common to all cultures with their
emotional content, melody, and full of love words, “Languages
from the Cradle” aims to help children become aware of different
languages at a very early age, and to introduce people especially
parents, grandparents and caregivers to different languages in
an easy and engaging way.
“Languages from the Cradle” Launch Event & Project Fair is
meant for people in language, parental and nursery education who
have the potential to disseminate and promote the aims of the
event and the outcomes of the project, i.e. book, Cd, DVD and
the project website. The event also aims bring together coordinators
and partners who have participated in Socrates projects with similar
aims. Besides, educational policy makers, key persons from cultural
associations, representatives of institutions necessary for the
commercialization of the project products, such as printing houses,
etc will be invited to the event. Last but not least, the event
will be open to any parents, grandparents or caregivers who are
interested in singing lullabies as well as raising awareness of
different languages for their caregivers.
The event will allow participants taste
different European languages, i.e. Czech, Danish, English, Greek,
Italian, Romanian, and Turkish using live and/or recorded music
of the lullabies in these languages.
The coordinators and participants of projects
will be offered the opportunity to present their products related
to early language learning to different professionals and the
general public at the fair.
An excellent Perge – Aspendos sightseeing
tour on the second day of the project will accompany the Launch
Event & Project Fair. You will enjoy your “first step” into
different languages through the soothing melody of the lullabies
in the region known as the “cradle of civilization” which is rich
in history and natural beauty.
